Herbert Brandl, born 1959 in Graz, lives and works in Vienna. 1978 Studied at the Academy of Applied Arts Vienna with Peter Weibel and Herbert Tasquil, 2004—2019 Professor at the Düsseldorf Art Academy.

He has enjoyed a long and fruitful collaboration with Galerie Elisabeth & Klaus Thoman since Pittura Austriae. Positions from Austria. II/III in 2000, with highly acclaimed publications and solo exhibitions such as Spektrolith (2010), Vulkan, Khyber und Katana (2013), and Sommerschnee (2016). As well as joint with the gallery such as the publication and exhibition at Albertina Vienna in 2009 or the exhibition, showing huge formats of paintings, at Hospiz am Arlberg in 2016/2017.
