“I have always understood the catalogue raisonné itself as a work and a sculpture. My first catalogue raisonné, listing works from 1992 to 2007, presents the catalogue raisonné itself as the final work—and thus in the title, as a work in its own right. For this reason, the catalogue raisonné can take on different forms—here, as a bicycle sculpture.
The print data of the catalogue raisonné, which were still stored on data DVDs, have now been inserted into the spokes of the wheels. I first observed this decorative reuse of CDs among small children. The bicycle itself is a track bike, a special racing bicycle for velodrome use that has no brakes. The metaphor of movement generated by the bicycle can be related to the body of work, which in its continuous production initially also seemed unrestrained, yet may ultimately move only in circles.”
