Born 1940 in Arkansas Washington/USA, lives and works in Berlin. Since the early 60ies Jimmie Durham is active in theater, performance, literature and in the American Civil Rights Movement. First Solo-Exhibition in 1965 in Austin/Texas. 1981-1983 Director of the Foundation for the Community of Artists (FCA) in New York City. Co-Founder and 1973-1980 Director of the International Indian Treaty Council and its representatives in the UNO.
