SOAX LUP The model for the sculpture was developed in evolutionary steps, passing from the non-remarkable amorphous mass of the raw material to a complex metaphor. It is the evolution of pieces of soap softened in water. To touch the material was to shape it; the playful result was two harmonious forms that in my view embodied significant sculptural values. The urge for commitment in a more permanent material such as plaster of Paris produced two durable embodiments as more solid carriers of the sculptural form, with the sculptural values of the model aesthetically heightened in meaningful complementarity to the simplicity of the original model. This transformation represents a process of cultural development, a model for commitment in permanent forms. Vienna, 1 June 1999 Bruno Gironcoli
