Gunter Damisch, born in Steyr, Upper Austria, in 1958, who studied at the Academy of Fine Arts with Max Melcher and Arnulf Rainer, advanced painting and (printed) graphics in equal measure, and often in combination, throughout his lifetime. The leitmotif running through Gunter Damisch’s very personal picture cosmos is the interference between large and small, the macro- and the microcosmic, the latent proximity to organic natural forms, amoeba-like single-celled organisms, to crystalline growths as well as galactic, energetic agglomerations.
