Florin Kompatscher (born 1960 in Bolzano, Italy) is a painter based in Berlin. He studied at the University of Applied Arts Vienna under Carl Unger and Adolf Frohner, and spent extended periods working in Rome, Madrid, and Paris. Kompatscher’s oeuvre moves between gestural abstraction, surreal pictorial worlds, and expansive painterly interventions in space. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at Künstlerhaus Bethanien Berlin, Museion Bolzano, Forum Kunst Rottweil, Kunstverein Offenburg, the Galaxy Museum of Contemporary Art in Chongqing, and the Tiroler Landesmuseum Ferdinandeum in Innsbruck.
Since 1986, Florin Kompatscher has been represented by Galerie Elisabeth & Klaus Thoman.
