Fourth and Half is a group of works from 2024. The starting point is the archetypal sphere, which is molded then split either once or twice, thus dividing it into half or quarter spheres—as if an unknown object has been opened out of curiosity in order to explore its interior. Smooth cut edges contrast with the rough texture of the outer surface. Openings in the material offer a glimpse into and through these hollow volumes. Painterly interventions create different surface effects and allude to different types of materiality. The segments balance on the ground and can be positioned at different angles to define directional axes in the space. The works Fourth Lamp and Half Lamp glow from within, as long, colored cables wind their way across the floor and through the space.
