Biography

Walter Pichler was born in Deutschnofen, South Tyrol (Italy), in 1936. The same year, his family opted to go to Austria
(Telfs, Tyrol). He studied at the school of arts and crafts in Innsbruck and then at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna,
where he graduated in 1955. A stay in Paris followed in 1960 and a trip to New York City and Mexico in 1963.
Walter Pichler lived and worked in Vienna and since 1972 in St. Martin an der Raab in southern Burgenland, where he died in July 2012.
